AudioUK Mission Statement

As the trade association representing UK audio production companies, AudioUK exists to help grow and promote the UK audio production sector, both at home and abroad.

The proliferation of portable devices capable of downloading, streaming and playing audio, plus the public’s ever-increasing appetite for good storytelling and compelling content, has caused markets for audio content to grow rapidly.

AudioUK works to ensure that, now and in the future, the sector has the skills, and the regulatory and business environment, to maximise its potential as a world leader in this market.

There are already around 150 audio production companies based across the UK, involved in making a wide range of audio-led content: podcasts; audiobooks; audio games; programmes for BBC Radio and commercial radio services; branded audio content; radio station jingles; and much more.

Audio UK has four main priorities:

Business: connecting suppliers to the marketplace; seeking new opportunities, including on an international level; providing business and legal affairs support

Representation: ensuring the sector continues to be recognised and listened to by Government, regulators, and industry

Community: growing membership; giving audio producers a feeling of belonging to a growing and successful industry; sharing information and best practice; encouraging diversity in all its forms

Excellence: providing ongoing specialised training through the Audiotrain programme; celebrating the sector’s achievements, through events including the Audio Production Awards

In meeting these priorities we build on our core strengths:

  • A strong track record of securing sector-friendly policy changes, through constructing and communicating policy positions based on sound, evidence-based arguments

  • Positive relationships with Government, regulators and industry

  • Audiotrain, an established professional training scheme and leadership forum

  • The annual Audio Production Awards which celebrates audio production craft and expertise

  • A 15-strong Board made up of front-line producers and which is representative of the varying size, locations and backgrounds of our member companies

  • A highly experienced executive support team
