AGM
2009 AGM
We held our AGM last night at the RSA in Central London, attended by a large number of members. Many thanks to ACJ for the introductory drinks, and to the RSA bar for staying open later than usual afterwards.
The big changes to come from the AGM were the elections of a new Chair, officers and Board members. Following five years as the Chair and Secretary, Neil Gardner stepped down from the Board in order to take some time to focus on his own business interests following his take-over of Ladbroke Productions late last year (he will still be responsible for the website and will help with lobbying and trade negotiations). Vice-Chair Graham Frost also stepped down after 5 years on the Board in able to persue new avenues of business and creativity. Board member Roger Elsgood stepped down formally a little earlier in the year, and we thank him for his tireless work on the Board, and in particular on the Symposium and Awards. Board member Karen Gilchrist also stepped down, and we would like to thank her for her work on the Board, her insights and continued support of RIGs work.
So, on to your new Board:
CHAIR - Mike Hally (Square Dog Radio)
VICE-CHAIR - Phil Critchlow (TBI Media)
SECRETARY - Nicholas Newton (Promenade Productions)
TREASURER - Andy Cartwright (Soundscape Productions)
DIRECTORS
Simon Clegg (Above The Title)
Kerry Luter (Unique)
Sue Clark (Sue Clark Productions)
Nicky Birch/Russell Finch (Somethin Else)
Ashley Byrne (Made In Manchester)
Connie St Louis (St Louis Productions)
Gail Champion (Out Loud Productions)
Susan Marling/Kate Bland (Just Radio)
The AGM voted to create the new honourary position of VICE-PRESIDENT, and to bestow the position on Neil Gardner and Graham Frost in recognition of their long-running rolw with RIG, and to enable RIG to continue to make best use of their experience and knowledge.
The RIG AGM is held in June, usually in Central London. Every member company can send two representatives, but each company gets just one vote. At the AGM the membership elect the Executive Committee, decide on the upcoming year's agenda and discuss any other important issues.
Members are notified 4 weeks in advance of the AGM, and an Agenda is circulated within 7-14 days. All members have the right to add items to the agenda or raise any other business at the meeting.
For members unable to attend, proxy votes may be given, either through the Chair or Secretary, or through another member. In the event of a tied vote the Chair holds a casting vote.
Copies of the AGM Minutes and Financial Reports from the years 2004-5, 2005-6 and 2006 are available to paid-up members upon request.
